This paper describes a new way of computer-mediated collaboration based on two-way linking between discussion and file sharing. We have been developing a system named Pilgrim that links together a Web-based discussion service and an SMB-based file-sharing service. This system allows users to have asynchronous discussions on any types of files via networks. It also helps users to be aware of the discussions and reach them easily, by providing backlinks from the files to the discussions. We believe the two-way linking feature will be beneficial to the discussions.
